1950s / rockabilly
So, of course you know that turn ups on jeans, do not a rockabilly make, but pair them with a black plimsole, a narrow bomber jacket and checked shirt and you have a modern interpretation of the look. A dark denim, or white skinnys are on style, and if you are feeling bold, you should venture into some graphics.

Oversized
After menswear got so skinny for so long, you will be relieved to know that this spring summer, you can loosen your belt and relax, because menswear just got bigger. Throw an oversized cardigan over some loose fitting trousers for a relaxed silhouette this summer. Even the suiting is becoming breathable, with soft jackets over wide trousers. Explore the space you have.

Layering
Not all of us get the summer we deserve. Especially in Britain. But the trick is to buy summer wear with optimism, and if the weather doesn’t play nicely, wear all your purchases together! Some would call that practical, in fashion we call it layering. Wear a fine knit over a bright cotton t-shirt, with some laundered linen trousers.
And if you are still shivering in your plimsoles, wrap yourself in a big oversized cardigan and pray for sunshine.

Luxe Sports

Long gone are the associations between sportswear and actual sports. Always a recurring source of inspiration on the catwalk, with ideals to reinvent the aesthetic. This season French Connection has moved into technical details on sports silhouettes, playing with exposed seams, zips, concealed compartments and feature pockets. This inspired the bright nylon bags, which perfectly combine sportswear and urban living.

Citrus
Summer may be for many things, but it is nothing without experimentation. Of the fashion variety, of course. Nothing sets off a holiday tan quite like citrus shades of yellow, green and orange. Boldly wear them as block colours in soft sweaters and t-shirts, or choose a more graphic tonal stripe v-neck instead. Juicy fruit tones are really not that scary at all, but are a refreshing change from winter’s blacks and browns.
